! pikes peak destinationT Pikes Peak - America's Mountain 14,115 Feet Above Ordinary Don’t leave the Pikes Peak region without taking the time to explore America’s most famous mountain. People have traveled to this national icon for centuries, drawn by its natural beauty and majestic views. Pikes Peak is one of the 54 peaks in Colorado with an elevation greater than 14,000 feet above sea level. It is the 31st highest “fourteener”, at an elevation of 14,115’, and i s accessible to anyone. Experience this peak by driving the 19-mile Pikes Peak Highway, ride the Pikes Peak Cog Railway or hike one of the trails to the summit including Barr Trail. The Pikes Peak Highway is paved to the summit and opens year-round, weather permitting. Hiking up the 13- mile Barr Trail is attempted by more than 15,000 people per year and it begins at the mountain’s base in Manitou Springs. It is the longest “fourteener” trail in Colorado with the greatest base to summit elevation gain of 7,400 ft. Don’t want to drive?
